Cheetah - Split test setup

Learn to use the Cheetah Messaging integration

Updated over a week ago

With your API user set up and your confirmation from your Phrasee Customer Success Manager that your import spreadsheet has been added to your integration, you'll be up and running Phrasee split tests faster than a cheetah! (Sorry, we couldn't resist.)

First, create a campaign in Cheetah as you normally would.

Once you've created your campaign, head over to the Phrasee platform and create an experiment. You'll want to fill in all of your experiment details and then generate and approve your awesome subject lines.

When you land on the Summary page after approving your subject lines, click on the Cheetah integration button.

This will open the integration sidebar on the right side of your screen. Under Setup results retrieval, locate the Cheetah campaign you just made.

You can scroll through the list or type the first few characters of your campaign name if it does not appear at the top. When you find your campaign, give it a click.

If for any reason the list does not populate, you have the option to Enter your Cheetah Campaign Ref ID into the Phrasee Integration Drawer (found in Cheetah in the image below). This will allow us to still pull your results automatically based on your date/time parameter input.

Option 1: Select campaign from dropdown

Option 2: Enter Cheetah Ref ID

Enter the expected send date and time and the date and time Phrasee should fetch your experiment results. Then click Save details.

Note: We never could teach a cheetah to fetch, but Phrasee will fetch your results automatically as long as this information is accurate. If your dates and times change after you configure results retrieval, don't worry. You can always click the Retrieve results button at the bottom of the sidebar after your send is finished.

Keep in mind, this configuration is only telling Phrasee when to fetch your results. It is not scheduling the Cheetah campaign. You will do that as you normally would in Cheetah once you finish the setup.

With your results retrieval configured, click Export file. This will download your subject lines in a txt file specially formatted for Cheetah to ingest. Cheetahs have a very precise diet, after all.

Return to your Cheetah campaign and click the Actions icon. Then, click Cells and Splits from the dropdown menu.

Click Yes.

Click Split into testing cells.

Click Import from Spreadsheet.

Click Choose file in the Import from Spreadsheet wizard and select the handy file you just exported from Phrasee. Then, click Import.

Cheetah will use the file to create your testing cells. Then, click the A/B Test radio button.

Scroll down to the Winning Options section. Here you'll configure how you want Cheetah to handle your testing. How you configure this section may vary. But generally, we recommend:

  • Send Winning Campaign: Automatically

  • Based on: Unique Opens with improvement of any amount

  • Send time: After 4 Hours

  • If no winner (tie) send: Random Leader

You can navigate over to the Setup Testing Elements tab to confirm all of your subject lines have been imported correctly.

Now, you can deploy your Cheetah campaign as you usually would. And that's it—you're off to the races! And you'll probably win having a cheetah and all. :)
